Revealing the Formation of Dialkyl Dioxahexane Dioate Products from Ethylene Carbonate Based Electrolytes on Lithium and Potassium Surfaces

In this study, the formation of dicarbonate degradation products ethylene carbonate‐based carbonate mixtures containing dimethyl carbonate, ethyl methyl or diethyl that were combined with lithium potassium metal, is investigated. It shown by NMR and GCMS dioxahexane dioate, dioate are formed from reactants to different extents and, in particular, surface initiates fast corresponding products. Experiments deuterated DMC suggest an intermolecular mechanism formation. cell tests, namely vs. graphite, it electrolyte formulation lowest tendency (EC/DEC) exhibited best stability respectively aging.
